Exhibitions, Awards & Press

Here is a collection of various Exhibitions held by either Ron or Jennifer, some of the many Awards that they both have won, and a cross-section of the extensive media coverage their work and achievements has attracted.

Awards

Jennifer Marshall

Jennifer won numerous awards in country NSW exhibitions before coming to the Mackay region in 1987. From then on she exhibited regularly until 1996 in the Mackay Artists and Art Exhibition, Pioneer Valley Art Exhibition, and Sarina Scope Art Exhibition, where she won numerous awards in the Traditional, Pastel, and Open sections and usually won the Peoples Popular Choice Award.

In 1996 she won the major open acquisitive award at the:

• Pioneer Valley Art Exhibition, which was aquired by Broken River Mountain Retreat;
• Sarina Scope Exhibition (won also in 1993) which was aquired by Sarina Shire Council;
• Mackay Airport Mural Competition with Ron Marshall;

Since then Jennifer, occupied with other projects, has only entered two competitions:

• In 2001 she won equal first prize at the Wallace & Wallace Portrait Prize run by Milton House Gallery, Mackay.
• In 2002 she won equal second prize in the Highlands to the Islands exhibition run by Milton House Gallery, Mackay.

Pioneer Valley Art Award 1996 This was the major award at this competition. The painting was of Broken River just near the Broken River Retreat, and Broken River Retreat acquired it. They had previously acquired another of Jennifer's paintings – both pastels on full sheets of mi-tientes pastel paper – about 75 x 55cm.

Highlands to the Islands Competition 2002 The seascape 'Seaspray & Showers' (above) won equal second place in the Highlands to the Islands Competition, held by Milton House Gallery in 2002. After some controversy regarding the winning entry, Milton House Gallery has not held any more competitions – what a pity!

Sarina Visual Arts Competition Award 1993 Jennifer won this award in 1993, and another of these in 1996. This one was for a pastel of Broken River.

Ron Marshall

Ron has had several exhibitions and won numerous awards. Ron has sold paintings to the Prime Minister's Department, and is represented in collections in Australia and overseas.

In 1996 he won the Mackay Airport Murals Competition with Jennifer Jowett.

In 2004 Ron & Jennifer's "Mount Britton Collection" was exhibited in the Nebo Museum.
